Team Building

Looking for team-building activities to foster communication and unity during your meeting? Our Destination Management Companies or Corporate and Social Event Planners can provide custom packages to achieve your team-building objectives. Their listings can be found in the Event Planning and Support Services section of this guide.

Scavenger Hunts

Teams receive clues that lead them around Historic Annapolis searching for taverns, historic homes or sites, restaurants, boats at the city dock, and much more. The task oriented clues all lead to a designated finish line. The team with the most missions/tasks accomplished wins! Scavenger hunts generally last 1-2 hours.

“How to Sail a Schooner”

The Schooner Woodwind offers a program that teaches your group the various aspects of sailing, including helming, navigating and sail trim. Each group is split into smaller teams to learn these skills. The length of the cruise will determine whether each team is cross-trained in all skills. After each team understands their job, they use their new knowledge to sail back to the harbor, taking into consideration navigational buoys, depth of water, wind direction and safety.

Match Races / Sailing Regattas

This team building event is pure Annapolis! Your group is divided into teams, given instructions on the basics of sailing, and then goes to a predetermined location to race. This event can be done with any size group and will be done with captained sailboats or schooners. A typical race will last approximately 3 hours.

Golf Tournaments

With over 20 golf courses in Anne Arundel County, bring your staff for a round at one of the area’s finest courses. Specialty designed items such as team shirts, golf towels, and logo balls can be added to remember your day. Golf is a game that can be enjoyed by everyone. Plan to spend at least 4 hours on the course.

Fishing on the Bay

The Chesapeake Bay offers great recreational fishing. Depending on the season your group can fish for rockfish, sea trout, black drum, bluefish, perch or mackerel. Build team spirit while you go after the biggest fish! The boat, rods, reels, tackle, ice, licenses, bait, and a captain to take you to the best “hot spots” can all be provided through our members. Plan to add a catered meal as you enjoy 4 to 6 hours on the Bay.
