Have you asked yourself lately; What do I really love? I have, and after the initial thought of my family, I decided to dig deep and came up with something more - Sunrises and Sunsets are lovable! Not the song from Fiddler on the Roof, but actual ones in the sky.

Sunrises are precious because they are the first gift of the day. When it is cloudy and there is no sun, have you noticed the affect it has on people? Grumpy is what I perceive so days like this I try to keep a very low profile. As well as I do on the days of a full moon for obvious reasons.

Sunsets are special because it is a beautiful and quiet celebration of the ending of another day. Especially when you are on vacation at the beach.

The definition of sunrises and sunsets according to sunrise-sunset.org are to first note that they both are instants. The time range during which the day becomes night or vice versa is called twilight. That happens between dawn and sunrise and the evening twilight, happens between sunset and dusk each day. The duration of twilight actually depends on our position on Earth and date of year.

Outdoor enthusiasts and photographers sometimes depend on these “instants.” For example, hikers, golfers and astronomers utilize this knowledge to make the most out of their day, to choose an early tee time or to star gaze. Personally, I chose sunset to get married. My husband and I wanted to be married outside overlooking a body of water. We chose sunset at Pebble Beach off the 18th hole in Monterey, California.

Sometimes, when you are soooo in love, you get things backwards. Well, although it was a storybook view and very romantic, the location on the opposite side of the course, where Spanish Bay at Pebble Beach is situated, has more the traditional sunset setting. As a guest of the property, a bonus is that you can sit outside each sunset by the fire pits there, sip cocktails and listen for what are bagpipes in the distance. It is not distant for long. The piper actually is slowly walking and approaching the outdoor patio through a field of tall grass and wild flowers as the radiant sun is setting behind him or her. A remarkable sight. We did this on our second night after we were married and it could not have been more awe-inspiring.
