The Annapolis area is surrounded by a bounty of water and other natural beauty and it’s always a delight to find a spot nearby that is perfect for a little vacation or event that emphasizes all this area has to offer. The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club fits the bill in all regards. While the Beach Club facilities celebrated its 20th anniversary this July on the waterfront, I got to take a peek at the Inn at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, which opened four years ago and has been growing ever since.
The Inn has 77 guest rooms and five fabulous cottages (five more are coming soon), pools, an adorable market offering unique gifts, from local goodies to special wedding-related items, and food, such as homemade gourmet breakfast and lunch items and some of the best homemade pie I’ve ever had. If you like Lemon Merengue, you won’t be disappointed! But I assure you, all the flavors looked absolutely scrumptious. After lunch, take one of their bikes out for a lazy ride around the area and to the water.
The onsite restaurant, Knoxie’s Table, was voted the Eastern Shore’s Favorite Farm-to-Table Restaurant, and I can see why. The restaurant welcomes guests into a warm, rustic setting located off the lobby of The Inn. Offering indoor and outdoor dining, Knoxie’s Table features booth and table style seating, two fireplaces, and two bars overlooking The Inn’s expansive gardens with its fire pits, fountains, rocking chairs and secret gardens. Knoxie’s Table is designed to create an authentic experience for locals and guests with a menu focusing on local farmers and watermen and regionally inspired cuisine. Before or after dinner, tour the grounds and find the robust Chef’s Garden. Much of your food comes right from this lovely place. I tested a cherry tomato right off the vine. Perfection!
