Autumn is a time for cool weather, colorful leaves, and, of course, ghost stories. What better way to get ready for Halloween than by walking around historic Annapolis and learning about the many spooky spirits that roam the city? This October, Historic Annapolis and Watermark will partner to present Historic Hauntings, a 90-minute guided walking tour of Maryland’s capital featuring the ghosts and legends of Annapolis. The tour is a perfect opportunity for locals and tourists alike to learn more about Annapolis and hear a haunted tale or two along the way.
The Historic Hauntings tours will be offered on Friday and Saturday evenings beginning on September 30 and ending on October 29. Tours will leave from the Historic Annapolis Museum at 99 Main Street at 7:30pm. Tickets are $22 for adults; $14 for children ages 3-11; free for children 2 and under. The highlight of the tour will be a visit inside the James Brice House, a colonial mansion dubbed Annapolis’s “most haunted” house. The parlor of the Brice House was visited by many in the 18th century, but not all escaped alive. Perhaps most notable is the tale of Thomas Brice, who was bludgeoned to death in the parlor. Shortly after Thomas was found dead, his valet disappeared. Today, both Colonel Brice and his servant are rumored to be haunting the house. They are accompanied by about ten other spirits, including the “Crying Girl” and other members of the Brice family, which have been spotted wandering the James Brice House over the years.
This unique ghost tour will allow guests to stand in the exact spot where the murder took place and learn about other mysterious happenings in the house. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to visit the James Brice House after dark.
