Sally_Feature ImageWhen Sally Boyett was a little girl growing up in a small town in Texas, she had big dreams. By the fifth grade, the classically trained ballerina was writing and directing her own plays in her garage. Neighborhood kids would knock on her front door and her mother would direct them to the garage, where Sally was holding play practice. Decades later, Sally continues to direct plays. But to her job as founding director and Producing Artistic Director at the Annapolis Shakespeare Company, she now brings a breadth of professional experience unparalleled in the region. Her performance credentials alone include performances in professional theatres from regional to Disney, off-off-Broadway, European tours, Broadway national tours and Broadway/Lincoln Center in New York. Between a demanding rehearsal and performance schedule, we caught up with Sally Boyett to talk about her artistic passions and experience, the birth of the Annapolis Shakespeare Company, and how she’s leading the theatre’s evolution.
