Gameday is almost here. This year, the North Carolina Tar Heels take on the Temple Owls in the 2019 Military Bowl presented by Northrup Grumman! Annapolis proudly hosts the bowl game each year as the teams battle it out at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. In addition to the main event, the city hosts game-goers from near and far with multiple events around town. From parades to tailgates to viewing parties, Annapolitans and visitors alike embrace the traditions of football and community.
The party starts Military Bowl eve as the Budweiser Clydesdales grace us with their presence during A Miracle on Annapolis Street on December 26th from 11 am - 5 pm in West Annapolis. The horses will be joined by vendors, food trucks, games and activities for adults and kids. Leading up to kick off on Game Day, be sure to catch the celebratory parade that makes its way from City Dock to the stadium starting at 9 am. The Budweiser Clydesdales will be making another appearance as part of this popular annual tradition.
Whether you’re attending the game or looking to indulge in the Bowl festivities, there are several bars and restaurants that will be prime spots to get in on the fun. Here are just a few on West Street that love to host all game day visitors.
- Fado Irish Pub - a short walk to the stadium. This classic Irish pub is not only convenient for those attending the game, but their large dining space and bar area easily accommodate all fans.
- Stan & Joe’s - classic sports bar right in the hustle and bustle of West Street. Stan & Joe’s offers several TVs and even on an outdoor patio if you’re willing to take on that football weather.
- El Toro Bravo - enjoy the game south of the border. El Toro Bravo is a festive bar and restaurant conveniently located on West Street. With a large bar and big TVs, it’s the perfect spot to watch the game or warm up with some margaritas afterward.
- Ram’s Head On Stage - make it a doubleheader with the game and a show! Cris Jacobs Band will be taking the stage at 8 pm. Stop by before the show for some local brews and delicious pub food.
