The Annapolis Shakespeare Company, the Classic Theatre of Maryland provides a true, regional theatre experience in Annapolis. With a cast of actors with stage and screen credits added to their impressive resumes- our city is lucky to have such rich theatre programming in our own backyard.

ASC’s Holiday Schedule

Sally Boyett is the Artistic Director and Director of this season’s A Christmas Carol as well as the cabaret review, Holiday Swing. The Dickens classic takes on new meaning and renewed hope in the shadow of a very turbulent 2020. Holiday Swing is ‘Pure Christmas confection!’ according to Sally. The cabaret style review brings tap, jazz, and joy with classic Christmas songs that will have you singing along.

Pivoting with Poise

As is the case with most everything in 2020, Sally and her cast of performers had to change the scope of their shows due to the pandemic. The cast has been locked down as one big happy family. They attacked their season as a team, staying vigilant and practicing socially distant procedures to keep everyone at the theatre safe.

Both shows were professionally filmed, edited and packaged for virtual viewing. Streaming the shows into your home this season is a perfect family activity that will offer a nice reprieve from the typical holiday fare. Why go to New York City when you can watch Broadway quality theatre right here in Annapolis and support local artists!

December marks the time for gathering with friends and family as well as cherishing the traditions of the season. We can’t think of a better tradition than to enjoy the nostalgia of these two Christmas classics, cozied up to loved ones, by the light of the fire.

To purchase your virtual tickets to this year’s performances, visit their website. Virtual showings begin December 21st, at 8 pm. Next, for ASC, is their feature length production of MacBeth, filmed across historic Annapolis. This performance will also be offered virtually as part of their 2021 season.
