It's time to break out your scarves and boots and dive head-first into a pumpkin spice latte because Fall is upon us! It can be difficult to get into the Fall spirit when the temperature outside still screams summer, but thankfully there's an array of activities in and around the Annapolis area to help locals start feeling festive. Below are just five of many great activities to choose from!

1. Maryland Avenue Fall Festival:

Pack up the whole family and head on over to Maryland Ave in downtown Annapolis for "Halloween on the Avenue". According to their event page, this free festival boasts food trucks, bands, fun for kids, and even a doggie costume parade. This event takes place on Sunday, October 20th from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Don't forget to stop and shop at many of Maryland Ave's wonderful shops while you're in the area. For more information regarding the fall festival click here.

2. PYOP: Pick Your Own Pumpkin

Nothing says fall like carving pumpkins, so be sure to stop into one of the many pumpkin patches in the area to pick up a pumpkin. Recommended of course is Anne Arundel Counties own Knightongale Farm. A short 25-minute drive from Downtown, Knightongale Farm is host to its own Fall Festival on Saturdays and Sundays through October 27. A small $5 admission includes animal petting, John Deer pedal tractors, corn boxes, and a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch. Their pumpkins are available for picking and purchasing at .59 cents per pound. You can read up on Knightongale Farm here.

3. Historic Annapolis Walking Ghost Tour

If you’re into Halloween and looking for a good spook this fall, you’ll want to book a Walking Ghost Tour of Historic Annapolis. This frightening history tour is sure to send chills down your spine and ensure that you’ll never think of Downtown the same way again. The tour offers options for both adults and kids, so be sure to check their website for the appropriate times.

4. Apple Picking at Lohr's Orchard

Fall is the time of harvest and apples are ripe for the picking! Although this activity is out of town, it’s definitely one you won’t want to miss. Located in Hartford County, about an hour from Annapolis, Lohr’s Orchard is another great place that offers fall fun for the whole family. Navigate your way through their orchards picking the most delicious-looking apples right off the tree. They also have delicious apple cider, apple cider slushies, and apple cider doughnuts for purchase. I recommend using your apples to make a homemade apple pie, the perfect fall dessert! 5. Picnic in Quiet Waters Park

Finally, if harvesting and festivals are not for you, you can pack a picnic and a thermos and head over to Quiet Waters Park to enjoy one of the simplest pleasures of fall, the beautiful foliage. If you’re walking over to the park admission is free, but you can drive in for $5 per car. The park is open every day from 7:00 am to dusk. You can find more information on quiet waters park here.
