October, well known for it's pumpkin spice lattes and changing of the seasons is also the perfect time for sailing and waterfront activities in Annapolis! The Tall Ship Lynx, the When and If and Olin Stephens' Bolero will grace the Annapolis waterfront through the end of October!

Tall Ships Abound in Annapolis
Annapolis Discovered was lucky enough to visit with Captain Casey Laaro of the Lynx as well as Lee Tawney, Executive Director of the Annapolis Waterfront & Sailing Center (AWSC). The AWSC, along with the City of Annapolis, has been bringing these boats to our harbor for years! The excitement and bewilderment of these schooners and tall ships shines through on faces, young and old.
The boat will be in the harbor
The AWSC will also host a 'Parade of Ships' on October 25th at 12:30 pm. This partnership will feature the visiting ships as well as Annapolis' own Schooner Woodwind..
Just in the short time we were there, folks were immediately drawn to these ships. The history and grandeur of the Lynx is not lost on Captain Casey Laaro. After all, he's been living aboard ships since 2012! His favorite part of the job? Seeing the bewilderment and excitement on the faces of the kids when he shares the history of this War of 1812 replica. It makes the long treks up and down the Eastern Seaboard worthwhile!
