Now that our son is getting older, my husband and I are always looking for fun, family-friendly places for him to experience. Of course, with COVID-19 and its seasons of quarantine looming over us, many great sites are closed to the public. Fortunately, Kinder Farm Park is open and full of child-friendly activities. Not to mention, there are great activities for your entire family. From beautiful, bountiful gardens to a working sawmill and woodshop, there is something for just about everyone at Kinder Farm Park. And with all those wide open spaces, there is no need to worry about room to roam and explore. With 288 acres of farmland and nature, there is enough space to walk, picnic, make friends with the animals, and still social distance. Here are five fun things you and your family can do at Kinder Farm Park.

Meet the animals

Animals are the heartbeat of Kinder Farm Park, and they are sure to strum a few of your heartstrings when you visit. Year-round you can see and even interact with many of the animals at the farm. The farm is home to pigs, goats, alpacas, seasonal quails and turkeys, and a host of other animals. If you want to meet the new arrivals right away, be sure to check out the yearly birthing schedule on the Kinder Farm Park website.

Have some fun on the playground

What good is a park without an exciting playground for the youngest shepherds and farmhands to run and play? Kinder Farm Park features a large playground area and tot-lot perfect for children of all ages to unwind, have fun, and even mingle while social-distancing.

Picnic in the Park

With 288 acres of beautiful landscapes, there are plenty of places to lay out a blanket and enjoy a delicious lunch on the lawn. On the other hand, if you prefer not to sit on the ground, no worries! Kinder Farm Park offers many park benches and picnic tables for your convenience. There are also two large rentable outdoor pavilions and several grills available.

Kinder Farmhouse Museum

Want to dive a little deeper into the Kinder Farm Park history? Starting in December 2020, the Kinder Farmhouse Museum will be open to the public once more. For updates and more on COVID-19 restrictions and best practices, visit the park's website.

Walk the Park

There is no shortage of nature, beauty, and history to take in at the park. One great way to experience all the park has to offer is a journey along the 2.8 miles of nature trails. Catch a glimpse of a deer crossing, take a stroll in one of the many gardens, or mosey through the Tobacco Barn Museum and see some of the farm's vintage tools.
