Things to Do in Annapolis

Out and About2

Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay is a mecca for individuals with a passion for things to do on the water. Our sailing schools, regattas, and weeknight races provide lovers of all things water with a daily fill of waterfront magic. A host of Annapolis public cruises, private charters, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding opportunities make it easy for kids of all ages to don their water wings and make like a local.

Surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay, four rivers and more than 400 miles of shoreline, we are proud of our maritime heritage. Spend a Sunday afternoon exploring the things to do in Deale, Shady Side, and Galesville, and you’ll discover just how much the rivers and Bay have shaped the lives of generations of farmers and watermen. The pace picks up as you head toward BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. Home of Fort Meade and the National Security Agency, Annapolis Baltimore is the cyber security capital of the nation and home to the new Maryland Live! Casino.

Whether you are looking for culture or cuisine, nightlife or Navy, art or architecture, spas or sports, you're sure to find great things to do in Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay.

This Week's Picks...

Looking for things to do in Annapolis this week? Here are just a few suggestions to get you started:

  • Visit the Seas, Lakes & Bay: The Naval War of 1812 exhibit at the U.S. Naval Academy's Mahan Hall. It features hundreds of objects from the Naval Academy Museum collection and 86 artifacts and pieces of art on loan from the collection of William I. Koch. The exhibit is open to the public, free of charge Mondays through Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. through November 3.
  • Head to a Farmer's Market just for the fun of it! Check out the fresh produce, flowers, crafts, and decadent desserts at the Farmer's Market at the intersection of Harry Truman Parkway and Riva Road on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. until noon. On Sundays, visit the Farmer's Market at the Donner lot next to City Dock in Annapolis between 8:30 a.m. and noon. These are just two of the many Farmer's Market in Annapolis and Chesapeake Bay.
  • Grab your favorite dockside seat and settle in to enjoy our famed Wednesday Night Sailing Races. Nearly 150 boats sail around several marks in the Chesapeake Bay before heading back to Spa Creek for a finish in front of the Annapolis Yacht Club. The first gun is at 6:10 p.m.
