Car and Pedestrian Traffic via Gate One at the United States Naval Academy

To support emergency operations with the Annapolis Police Department and to alleviate some congestion in The City Of Annapolis, Gate 1 at United States Naval Academy will be
CLOSED to vehicles on Saturday and Sunday of both boat show weekends. Pedestrian access via the Visitor Access Center will remain available with normal operating hours.

In Summary:
Saturday and Sunday, October 5 & 6: Gate 1 CLOSED to vehicles.
Saturday and Sunday, October 12 & 13: Gate 1 CLOSED to vehicles.

If you like meeting people and sharing your knowledge about Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay, we have the perfect job for you! Our Volunteer Information Specialists assist vacationers, business travelers, and area residents who stop by our 26 West Street Visitors Center and our seasonal satellite information booth at City Dock. Serving as frontline ambassadors, our friendly volunteers provide visitors with materials, insights, and the lay of the land they need to make the best use of their time with us.

Program Requirements:

  • Volunteer opportunities are available to individuals 21 years of age and older.
  • A desire to have fun talking with and helping people
  • Willingness to promote Annapolis and Anne Arundel County as a tourist destination
  • Commitment to serving a four-hour shift at least three times per month. Changes typically begin at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm - we especially need weekend volunteers.
